Gil S. Epstein in a Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

After completing his doctorate in Economics and Statistics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel in 1994, Gil S. Epstein spent two and a half years at the University of Pennsylvania. Since 1996 he is a member of the Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University, Israel. 

Gil is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics and is an Associate Editor for economics. In addition, he is a Research Fellow in IZA (Bonn) and a Research Fellow in CReAM (London).

Gil has published in Journals such as European Economic Review, Management Science, Journal of Development Economics, Public Choice, Social Choice and Welfare and Journal of Public Economics.

His book on Endogenous Public Policy and Contests (coauthored with Shmuel Nitzan) has been published by Springer. For a book review written by Vincenzo Galasso, click here.

Gil edited together with Ira N. Gang a volume on Migration and Culture published by Emerald.

Gil edited together with Alessandro Cigno a Special Issue on Political Economy and Population Economics, Journal of Population Economics 19(2), 2006.

His current research interests include issues in Political Economy, Public Choice, Labor Economics, Migration and Public Policy.
